In outdoor, humid, industrial and other scenarios, the sealing performance of waterproof connectors directly determines the stability of equipment operation. 1. Sealing Materials: Different Materials for Different Scenarios

Sealing material is the core of waterproof performance. There are three common types: rubber, silicone, and fluororubber, each suitable for different scenarios:
  •  Rubber: Low cost, suitable for general outdoor scenarios (IP44-IP67), but poor in high and low temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, not suitable for extreme environments;
  • Silicone: High temperature resistance (-40℃~105℃), strong flexibility, suitable for most industrial scenarios, and is currently the mainstream material for waterproof connectors;
  •  Fluororubber: Excellent corrosion resistance and high-pressure resistance, suitable for extreme scenarios such as marine engineering, chemical industry, and high-temperature equipment (IP68-IP69K), but with relatively high cost.

 2. Sealing Process: The Key to Waterproof Stability

In addition to materials, the sealing process directly affects the service life of the connector. Ulinkcon adopts a "dual sealing process": the interface is sealed by silicone gasket extrusion, and the connection between the shell and the cable is sealed by potting glue, providing double protection against water leakage and seepage. At the same time, each product undergoes high-pressure water spray and immersion tests before leaving the factory to ensure that the sealing performance meets the standard.

 3. Selection Misunderstandings: Avoid These Mistakes
  • Blindly pursuing high IP level: Although IP69K has a high protection level, its cost is also high. IP67 is sufficient for general outdoor scenarios, and there is no need for excessive investment;
  •  Ignoring material compatibility: In chemical and marine scenarios, using ordinary rubber materials can easily lead to seal failure due to corrosion;
  • Neglecting the impact of plugging times: Frequent plugging and unplugging will wear the sealing gasket, so products with long plugging life and replaceable sealing gaskets should be selected.
